If you like bratwurst and middle-aged guys in lederhosen (and who doesn't!), Thursday, October 9 is "Oktoberfest", Historic Downtown Sanford's monthly "Alive After Five" celebration and street party. Great music, freebies, tons of art and antiques and delectable food (try the candied bacon at Two Blondes and a Shrimp)- see why they are calling this strip the "Cultural Corridor" of Seminole County.
It's cooking! Creative Sanford's "Celery Soup" is looking for volunteers, donations, and oral histories for a Sanford community play based on the 15-year-old model of "Swamp Gravy" from Colquitt, Georgia. The performance will be based on oral histories and personalities from old Sanford. Please contact Jeanine Taylor or Mary Shaw at jtfolkart@aol.com if you have something to contribute, or are interested in participating. Learn more at Sanford Celery Soup PS. If you have any interesting ghost stories or hauntings that occurred in Sanford, or thereabouts, please click here to leave me an email at cherieart@cfl.rr.com or call 407 496-9524 for transcribing. Thanks!!
